Coding Geniuses with the Micro:bit & Mini Drone.
Over the past number of weeks, P6 & P7 have been getting to know a little more about code and programming using various apps, computer software and testing it out on some programmable devices. We used the Tynker app to programme our mini drone which we got to test both indoors and outdoors!
Yesterday they each built their own Microbit. We were delighted to receive these free pocket sized computers developed from the BBC. It has a number of amazing tiny outputs which can be coded on a computer using online software.
It has lights to spell out words, a small speaker, thermometer, light sensor, compass and emotion sensor! You have to see it to believe how compact yet amazing it truly is!
Today we coded our initials, made words, emotion faces and recorded sound. The children picked this up quickly and by the end of the lesson they were experimenting with building their own codes and transferring them onto their little devices themselves.
They can’t wait for more coding next week!
