As part of their novel study, pupils in P3/P4 made their own version of “George’s Marvellous Medicine”, using a range of ingredients, such as shampoo, washing-up liquid, lemon juice and bicarbonate soda. The pupils observed as the bicarbonate soda and lemon juice reacted to make lots of bubbles and discussed why this reaction took place. This experiment also provided the basis for pupils to compose their own instructions, in which they used “bossy” verbs and ensured that their information/method was in chronological order.
