The Women's Institute donate tree to St Michael's PS Well-Being Garden
The Women's Institute visited the school on Tuesday 22nd March 2022, with a donation of a cherry blossom tree for the school's Well-Being Garden. The ladies and some of the pupils from primaries 5, 6 and 7 planted the tree in the afternoon sunshine. The President of WI in Donemana, Mrs Angela Hamilton, said that the WI was donating 8,000 trees across Northern Ireland to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the WI and also to help tackle climate change. Mrs Hamilton was accompanied by the Executive Officer for the Abercorn area, Mrs Joan Beattie. Mrs Elizabeth McKenzie, Mrs Heather Witherow and Mrs Margaret O'Neill also took part in the tree planting ceremony. Mrs Hamilton thanked the school for their welcome and Mrs Carlin said that she hoped future pupils of the school would enjoy the beautiful tree in full bloom in years to come.
